We think that the theme is be yourself. We think that because Jeremy is doing his normal things and is being complimented. In the book he talks about all the features of himself. Everyone compliments him so much he makes a list about all the things he is. He's being himself so people are respecting him for who he is. He is getting compliments for who he is not what he has or does.

This is because when the Hunters came that "not ordinariness" saved him and the other Penguins. The Hunters were looking for "Perfect Penguins" and Tacky did things that weren't "Perfect." Also the other Penguins joined in and saved them from being captured. Tacky was himself when the Hunters came and it saved them. Also the other Penguins helped a bit.
